The first tattoo I ever got were the words “bathe and hunt” in script on my ribs.

It’s a reference to a Streetlight Manifesto song, “A Better Place, A Better Time”. This song go me through many hard times, and this line specifically resonated with me.

I’ll draw your bath and I’ll load your gun,

But I hope so bad that you’ll bathe and hunt.

I’ve been carrying this phrase around for over 10 years, using it in my every day life to comfort myself. It seemed fitting that a website highlighting my own words—words that often make me feel vulnerable and are difficult to share—have this name.

Writing and living is extremely personal, and I believe the writer is always leaving a piece of themselves in their work.
